After supporting hundreds of leaders in coaching I then managed a mental health charity for a number of years and I noticed that more than 85% of attendees on our mental health programs were women. Many expressed their struggles with anxiety and feeling undervalued as well as feeling that they were making little progress on their career, financial or relationship goals. I too also felt like this into my mid 30s having progressed little in life despite my hard work. Then I learnt about coaching, started self-coaching and then, become a professional coach. This totally changed my life around. I not only managed to change my career and work in my dream job, I also married the man of my dreams at 45yrs old, went from owning 0 to 3 properties and even managed to compete in the world age triathlon championships for Australia when I was 40yrs old. Who would have thought! I am now 51yrs old and have also have helped many others make significant progress on their key life goals. I really love to see people get ahead in life and achieve more than they otherwise would have imagined. Its never to late to start! I also genuinely care about my clients and the planet. I love the sea and nature hence then name.
I have been coaching professionally since 2012 and in that time I have coached over 500 leaders, business owners and individuals assisting them in achieving their goals. This has included coaching over 400 senior and frontline leaders as part of Leadership programs with Graincorp, TfNSW, Australia Post, Mystate bank and Stockland as well has adhoc coaching engagements with individual clients. In recent years, I have also spent time as a health coach focusing on achieving exercise outcomes within the mental health industry, an area I am passionate about.
Areas of focus in terms of coaching have included: increasing personal effectiveness, healthy eating and exercise, time management and delegation improving resilience and wellbeing, dealing with difficult people and situations, improving team cohesion and performance, resolving conflict, managing change, career development and dealing with the complexity and ambiguity of decision making at more senior levels.
My coaching approach draws on a mix of evidence based psychology theory and practice, leadership research and my own practical experience as a General Manager of a charity and frontline leader roles and as a business owner. I am more of a down to earth, energetic and pragmatic type of person. Coaching methods used include GROW, solution focused coaching, cognitive behavioural coaching, ACT and mindfulness based practices.
